Catch of the Day

Using inspiration from family trips to the harbour town of Amble in Northumberland, I utilised memories and imagery to explore nautical themes and industrial fishing to inform this collection. By taking structural inspiration from lobster pots, textural inspiration from fishing nets and technique inspiration from sailing knots, my aim was to capture the rugged aesthetic of maritime industry in a contemporary and playful interpretation. The colour palette captures the fluorescent oranges, bright greens and bold blues seen in the nets, boats, and buoys within my inspiration. I intended to contrast delicate mixed media knitted fabrics with chunky design elements to create a visual interest of varied structures.

I had the wonderful opportunity to do a collaboration project with fashion photographer Jade Bray and model Isobel Morrey

Digital visualisation collages and research mood boards

I experiment with collaging to conceptualise my designs within fashion and interior settings.
